Experts are good. But you’ve got to make your own decisions.

I went with a friend to the Apple store to buy a laptop. For the friend. He wanted to turn in the old laptop for a new one. Let’s call the friend, Tucker.

Tucker had issues accessing his iCloud account so he wasn’t able to do the trade-in.

The Apple store person said the computer was locked and the only way to get the account unlocked would be to call 1800-My-Apple and get it unlocked.

He said this process could take 72 hours to 30 days to resolve.

Me and Tucker left and went to my house. Tucker spent about an hour on the computer and got it fixed and was able to access his iCloud account.

We went back to the Apple store and got the trade in done!

Here’s the lesson learned.

Everyone you talk to might not always be right.

They might be kind of right, but not fully right.

They’ve not walked in your shoes.

They don’t have the passion you have for whatever it is you’re doing.

YES, listen to mentors.

Listen to experts.

Listen to those who have more experience than you.

Maybe out of 3 things they say, 2 are not quite for you but 1 thing can help point you to the right direction.

However, know that it’s YOUR life and you’ve got to figure it out.

Take the insights and thoughts from those you trust and then come up with the solution and best implementation of it that works best for you.

If we would have listened to the Apple Store expert and stopped trying we would have still be locked out of the iCloud account.
